On September 26th, we will start charging for Focusmate. You’ll be able to choose between a limited free plan and an unlimited paid plan.
Why are we starting to charge?
Our vision is to build the most supportive community on earth; to reach as deeply as we can into people’s lives to support them in becoming who they want to be.
And we can’t do that without money to survive and nourish the business.
By paying for Focusmate, you can help us improve your experience, introducing features like Blocking, which we released a few weeks ago, and recruiting world class Trust & Safety advisors to help us keep you safe.
We’ll be able to fix your video experience. (Doing so will be a top priority for the rest of 2019.)
We’re also working on a new platform to reduce outages, a better customer support experience, and providing you with session structures and partners based on your preferences.
These are just a few current examples. As we grow, we’ll be able to improve much faster than our 3-person team can currently achieve.
How will the new plans work?
There will be a free Basic plan, limited to 3 sessions per week (12 per month). Or you can upgrade to our unlimited Turbo plan for $5 per month.
The plans will go into effect on Thursday, September 26th.
If you enroll early, you’ll receive a 20% discount, every month, indefinitely.
Thank you so much for being part of this community, and this journey.
Best, Taylor & Team Focusmate
P.S. You might be wondering why we don’t do advertising. Ads distract you! Advertisers want to know things you might not want to share with them. And, when a business sells ads, they have to make advertisers happy, instead of making their users happy. Like encouraging you to click on an ad instead of working. By charging you directly, we can focus 100% on you, and create the best possible Focusmate experience.
